You Can Overcome An A Spider Phobia - Arachnophobia
Although it's typical for everyone to experience fears, having a phobia is a more serious matter. A phobia is an illogical fear that is seemingly beyond one's control. Phobias are categorized as a type of anxiety disorder, and often trigger nervousness and panic attacks in a person. When a person has a phobia, they get so anxious to get away from their fear that it interferes with their daily activities and their ability to live life.
Some of the most common phobias are acrophobia, the fear of heights, claustrophobia, a fear of enclosed spaces, and arachnophobia, the fear of spiders. Arachnophobia is the number one most common phobia. While many people are afraid of spiders, people with arachnophobia have an abnormal amount of fear. Even a photograph or realistic rendering of an arachnid can make some people nervous. Some arachnophobes have panic attacks or panic at the sight of an arachnid. They are often willing to do anything in order to get away from a spider; for example, people with extreme arachnophobia might try to get out of a moving vehicle if they see a spider in the car.
Sufferers often feel ashamed of their unrestrained responses. Other people and even the sufferers themselves often find their behavior irrational. Their anxiety over spiders and their reaction to the creatures may cause other problems as well. Arachnophobia and other phobias often lead to another phobia known as agoraphobia.
Agoraphobia can arise when a person fears being in any potentially stressful area or situation. For a person with arachnophobia, this can mean avoiding any place a spider could be found, new places, and even resisting leaving the house or going outside altogether. This can negatively disturb a person's daily life. A person may be worried about having panic attacks or humiliating him or herself by losing control. Many people find themselves chronically stressed out over their concerns.
People with phobias may struggle to control their fears. The truth is the root of the problem exists in the unconscious mind; so conscious willpower or effort will not work to control an intense phobia. A phobia is best treated at the unconscious level, which is why Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques are the best phobia treatments.
There are many different hypnosis programs available for treating phobias. Most utilize conventional forms of hypnosis that depend on the use of post-hypnotic suggestions with very exact wording to work against fears. In this day and age, post-hypnotic suggestions often don't work because most people have a tendency to question and analyze everything. And since today's generation is likely to do the exact opposite of what they are told, post-hypnotic suggestions do not work and they experience a polar response.
Ericksonian hypnosis therapy is different from traditional hypnosis because it uses indirect suggestions that are embedded in conversation. This makes them hard for the conscious mind to pick out, so they will make it through to the unconscious level and be accepted.
The process typically starts by using hypnotherapy to make you feel completely calm and receptive. Then, instead of merely "telling" your unconscious mind what to do, Ericksonian techniques use stories and metaphors to direct your mind into a desirable line of thought.
NLP techniques work by targeting the specific thought process that causes an irrational phobia and using it to eliminate the fear. Because of this, NLP can be used on all phobias.
People respond better to the combination of NLP and Ericksonian techniques than to conventional hypnosis because instead of hearing direct orders, the unconscious mind is convinced to follow a new, more logical thought process. These hypnosis programs are most effective for people who are analytical, critical thinkers and people who like to think on their own.
You do not need a different hypnosis program for each different phobia. A single program that includes several sessions containing the right combination of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP techniques can treat any phobia. Additionally, a well-designed program will work for every user. The combination of a multitude of techniques in several different sessions ensures success for each and every individual who uses them. By going through each step of the program, people are often amazed at how easily they triumph over their fears.
Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP focus on turning irrational behaviors and fears into rational, calm responses. For many individuals suffering from crippling fears such as a phobia, this is a life-changing treatment. Hypnotherapy is an effective tool for overcoming fears and anxieties to live a better life.
