The possibility of losing your house to foreclosure is one of the most rough and occasionally humbling things that can occur to you. The incessant phone calls and mail from the bank are strenuous and it is trying to get anyone at your lender who appears to have concern at all.

So how can you stop mortgage foreclosure? Thankfully, there are many options available to you to help you.

1. Work with your lender to get to some kind of workout understanding. If you got laid off from your job, gotten divorced or had another financial hardship that has made it impossible for you to make the payments on your residence, mortgage companies will oftentimes work with you to help you from losing your house.

2. There is as well the option of seeking a sale on your house. Since the market that we are currently in is a buyer's market, this could be a problematic business. If you are unable to sell your house for the total amount that you owe the bank, you may have to try a short sale. If you do desire to go this path, you will have to work closely with your bank and be a nuisance with them. Because your bank will end up losing money in this situation, they tend to move slowly on these and some lenders will not even grant these.

3. Check out declaring bankruptcy. If you are having trouble satisfying all of your debts, this could be the option for you. Chapter 13 bankruptcy involves finding a three to 5 year program for how you will pay back your creditors.

If your house is in the middle of foreclosure, discovering a path to stop mortgage foreclosure ought to be your number one priority during this time.
